Machining (home shop machinist)!

Among other weirdnesses, I am a railroad nut. Particularly
narrow gauge railroads of the late 1800's. And particularly of the famed
Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad.
As a result, I've got some projects going:
I've an interest in live steam locomotives
and have started building my own, based upon a DSP & P Cooke Mogul
A garden railroad sized Mason Bogie
, the most famous of all DSP & P locomotives. The Bogie is built following David Fletcher's
MasterClass 2003.
This railroad interest very likely was sparked by the
Alamogordo & Sacramento Mountains Railroad that ran between the desert town of
Alamogordo and the mountain village of Cloudcroft, where my family has had a summer cabin my entire life.
I've written an article on the railroad for the
Narrow Gauge and Shortline Gazette.
Take a look at some photos
and a route map.
I've also had the opportunity to drive a full-sized steam locomotive hauling unsuspecting
full-sized tourists in full-sized passenger coaches

We've been visiting
the special caves in Carlsbad Caverns
National Park.
