- For scale, the bolsters are 8 inches in length; track gauge is 4-3/4
inches.
- Each truck weights approximately 8 pounds.
- The only castings used are the wheels, provided in rough form by a friend,
and the pedestals, my first castings (in aluminum from a pattern I made).
- The journal boxes are built up from stock.
- The journal box lids are castings by Robert Dustin from my drawing. The
font is as close as I could get to the original.
- The leaf springs are in phosphor bronze and the number and length were
tested (carefully) using a press capable of 165,000 pounds of pressure.
- I used both blackening chemical and paint.
- The bolsters are a sandwich of oak (cut from flooring strips) and aluminum
stock.
