Alaska 2019

Our family trip to Alaska, 27 years after my parents took their family. We stayed at the same lodge near Homer — Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge, although it's less wilderness now than it was then. Including one building with internet access. Thankfully no cell service and no TVs.

We flew to Anchorage, spent the night, flew to Homer where we spent the weekend.

A Google Earth view of Homer, the spit, Katchemak Bay, Gull Island and China Poot Bay which is beyond the island.

Then on to the Lodge.

Diane and Michael McBride built the lodge and their kids, Shannon McBride-Morin and Morgan McBride, now own and run it. Dianne was there and it was great fun to see her again.

Besides Shannon and Morgan, the staff now includes eight (including Shannon and Morgan) guides and wonderful cooks and kitchen staff.

The schedule is Monday - Saturday so we spent the middle weekend back in Homer. On the Sunday we flew to Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park to watch the grizzlies fish for salmon.
